E. Hughes I am the same thing every year. A cat. I think one year I wore a furry penguin costume.

Instead of passing candy out, I put all of the candy on a table in front of my house and let the kids grab a bag of treats. I usually have about a hundred bags of candy filled with the good stuff (candy bars, hard candy, suckers, and other really good snacks). Then I have a separate side for peanut free candy for kids with peanut allergies. I'm partial to that because my daughter has a peanut and sesame allergy and I developed a peanut intolerance a few years ago.

Last year, some men (probably in their early 20s), pulled up and stole the trays of 50 or 60 bags of candy and sped off. I was so ticked off. Why steal something that was being given away for free?? We have used the honor system for about 7 years and the kids, from small to teens were always honest but it took some adult men to steal candy from those kids last year. This was the first time someone violated the honor system. Hopefully it does not happen this year. I doubt the thieves would be that bold again. I think for them it was more of a prank but it actually hurt my feelings. :(
