Toby Hendy, a Youtube science popularizer talks of the experience of publishing her first book this year. 20 mins.

E. Writer Watching this now. The gatekeepers rebounded. They just keep self-published authors out in other ways. There are specific rules that say, if your books are distributed by Amazon KDP then it is ineligible for specific events that authors may need to participate in. I've seen it. So a book released on Amazon is not taken seriously and the gatekeepers have rules to keep those books out. Especially with the added AI slop and books that are not written by human authors has made KDP a less serious platform. That said, this person is using a new marketing strategy for a book printing company, which is to advertise through an informative video , where they appear to be sharing information but they're really advertising a company. In this case, Tibees.

Sony builds a robot that can beat any human at table tennis. Now we know how the Neanderthals felt.

E. Writer When I worked for Sony I remember they had Aibo, an AI robot puppy back in 2006 when I started working for the corporate office, so I'm not surprised they are able to create something like this. I actually wanted an Aibo but it was thousands of dollars 20 years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLjtOMBWvTo

Paradigm shift. Young creatives have a much broader hybrid space into which to build their persona as content creators, writers, artists, musicians, thinkers and tinkerers, wanderers and wonderers. If you have the the imagination and charisma, go for it! But beware selling your soul, same as ever.

19 mins, zoomed out overview every AI model in current use. Nice if you (like me) have paid no attention so far.

E. Writer Solid video. I did a few events on this subject. This is fairly accurate. I will think about it more when I am done watching.

Yes, I know. I apologize for posting an article that's behind a paywall. But if you like books, you'll like this one.

SJ Blues Oh, I'll check this out

For those you who liked Bill Browder's book, Red Notice. Very fine spy novel, The Poet's Game (2025), by Paul Vidich.

Alex Morton Sounds good. Browder's book was an eye-opener and precipitated legislation in the US. All these years later, I wonder how safe he is.

Alex Morton Okay, I've bought a copy.

Andrew Morgan He mentions Browder in his acknowledgements.
