Michael Berryman was born on this date in 1948.
Late 1970s horror genre icon who's best known for his creepy performance as "Pluto" in the uncompromising Wes Craven horror film The Hills Have Eyes (1977). Berryman (who suffers from Hypohidrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia, a rare condition leaving him with no sweat glands, hair, fingernails or teeth) reminds one of a latter-day Rondo Hatton who also suffered from a rare medical condition that distorted his features giving him a brutish look just right for horror movies.
To Berryman's credit, he managed to develop upon his "Pluto" character, and has turned up in numerous sci-fi / fantasy movies such as My Science Project (1985), Weird Science (1985), Armed Response (1986) and Evil Spirits (1991). The tall & lean Berryman generally portrays mutant bikers, evil undertakers, monsters and other frightening characters! A genuine favorite of horror movie fans. He even played a principal in the Mötley Crüe video for "Smokin' In the Boys Room".

Chen Kuan-tai has passed away.
Easily one of the most recognizable, prolific and important actor in the history of Hong Kong cinema. He is called the first trained martial artist actor of Shaw Brothers.
Chen Kuan-tai rose to fame in the 70s by appearing in Shaw Brothers films. He acted in over 160 films in his life, almost half of them were under Show Brothers. He is well-known for cult classic film like 1972 classic "The Boxer from Shantung", which was later remade in 1997 titled "Hero" starring Yuen Biao and Takeshi Kaneshiro, and in 2014 as "Once Upon a Time in Shanghai" starring Philip Ng and Andy On.
He also starred in "Executioners from Shaolin (1977)", "Crippled Avengers (1978)", "Killer Constable (1980)" etc etc. Some of the most loved martial arts films of all-time.
Chen Kuan-tai further starred in dramatic crime films like "The Teahouse (1974)" and "Big Brother Cheng (1975)". The former one is often citied as the pioneer of modern gangster film in Hong Kong cinema which paved the way for classic like "A Better Tomorrow" years later.
Chen Kuan-tai's career further extended to directing, producing and writing. He independently directed and starred in 1977 original film "Iron Monkey"
He peaked throughout the entire 70s. Won "Most Popular Male Actor" award at "Asia-Pacific Film Festival" in 1974.
Chen Kuan-tai will always be remembered as one of the most important and driving forces of Hong Kong martial arts cinema, who left neverending contribution for the industry.
