A younger gen, still feelin' it.

Alex Morton Most of what I played on the guitar was blues. I have a twelve string because the first blues I ever listened to was Leadbelly who played a twelve. My first twelve was a Mexican one with a great sound, but far too lightly and cheaply made. I opened the guitar case just before I was scheduled to go onstage and the bridge had ripped right off and pulled that guitar to pieces. I replaced it with a six string one and never had another twelve until one year Mina and the kids bought me a 1967 Martin D20-12 that Mina had seen me ogling in a guitar store. It's one of the few things I own that I really care about. Because of a bit of arthritis in my hands, I stopped playing it and switched to piano and the 12 string now sits waiting for my 3 1/2 year old grandson, who is very musical, to be old enough to play it.

Frank Hutton I came of age during the halcyon days of Chicago blues. Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Buddy Guy, etc. Since I listened primarily to classical all through the 60's, it was only after I started hanging out with the blues that I finally understood R&R.
