Andrew Morgan Is that the one where they put up a Hail Mary, it was intercepted but the refs called it out of bounds and the clock had run out but the refs put one second back on and they threw the same pass again and the second time scored, winning the game? They deserved the win, having the grit to stay in it from so far behind.
E. Writer Congrats to Texas. That is a big deal.
Has anyone seen The Nightcrawler? Can we talk about the ending...
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2872718/
E. Writer Yes, this is one of my favorite movies. I just watched it last week after many years. It's on Netflix. Man, does that ending piss me off lol. I see two underlying messages: 1. The media is creating the narrative for what we see on the news, and ultimately, what we believe. Media manipulation. 2. People, especially succeessful businessmen are often rewarded for using ruthless business strategies that entails exploiting workers and people. Lou (Gyllenhaal) exploited people in their worst moments. He exploited his employee by not paying him fairly even though the guy was struggling in life. He ruthlessly harmed his competitor and then exploited him for a news story. He exploited Renee Russos character , in business and in the bedroom. And they both manipulated the beliefs of the viewer. I saw an imdb user review that said, "We are him, on social media. "
bb santx Yeah, i watched it on Netflix early this morning. Good movie, crappy ending. I wanted exactly, literally, the opposite ending. I wrote the ending as I watched it all unfold...I like my ending better...
E. Writer
Yes crappy because it was such an unjust ending for w
His employee, who was already being exploited by him. Lou won and was rewarded for his ruthless unethical, sociopathic behavior.
Andrew Morgan Gloxinovinal---that name is so funny !
E. Writer I am not surprised. It's another level of pernicious capitalism, where big pharma is marketing medicine like it's soda or a bag of chips to citizens unqualified to determine whether it is safe to take a medicine or not.
Frank Hutton My favorites are the ones that list all the ways the drug might kill you.
E. Writer I think to myself... yeah I'll pass on all of those symptoms.
E. Writer All of those fiction novels, from 1984 to The Firm, to Minority Report, The Matrix, are all becoming a reality, if not already.
Andrew Morgan I was just doing the mini-crossword (all I have patience for anymore) of the NYT, and it asked for the initials of an organization that ran a draft lottery. Having had to register at about age 17, in 1974. the SSS came to mind. But wouldn't fit. Finally, it dawned on me. The NBA.
Roy Scarbrough I knew there was a reason I dislike basketball.

E. Writer Lol 73 degrees. The sky must be melting it is so hot. What part if the world or state are you in?
Alex Morton Maybe it's Celsius. which would put it at 163 Fahrenheit.
Alex Morton For as long as I've lived in BC, people who live near the border have gone to the US to fill up their tanks on cheaper gas. Not any more ... for two reasons. First ... Canadians are refusing to go to the US because of he whose name I'd rather not mention, and over the past few weeks because gas is no longer cheaper in the US ... again with the same root cause.
E. Writer I remember when gas was 1.10 when I first started driving.
Roy Scarbrough I remember when a pack of cigarettes and a gallon of gas were the same: 35 cents. I have no idea what cigarettes cost any more.
SJ Blues Are they still alive on those coffins?
E. Writer This post is blank.
bb santx How'd that happen?
E. Writer Yes, that is so weird.
