We should be proud to be a member of this species with its geniuses who can see so clearly the proof of truth and can establish it through the wonderful method of science, or through reflection on the experience of being human. However! The thrills of science is not the whole project that confront us. It is increasingly and urgently clear that we learn skills to develop robust public amity, a set of self-tuning customs of and celebration of communal spirit. A means, a skill-set widely shared, to gently de-escalate disputes.
E. Writer What you've said reminds me of something I wrote at the end of this book in my closing. Just looking at the world--the universe through a wide lens and appreciating that we managed somehow, to exist.
