Is it strange to love writing but hate it, too?
Alex Morton Back when I was in the tech industry I hated that I had so little time to write. But what kept me going was that I knew I was gathering material and in the end ... twenty years of it ... one of my books came out of it. Writing for me is like breathing and playing music ... when life doesn't interfere with it, it's a natural part of me that just bubbles over. I wander over to the keyboard to play every day without thinking about it ... whether it's a musical keyboard or the one attached to my computer.

E. Writer I can relate. Sometimes I go through periods of burning out.

SJ Blues I've been seeing this trend for years with abandoned schools. Truthfully, with the death of third spaces, this video hurt to see, but I'm also happy people are getting homes
Alex Morton I've always admired Bucky Fuller even if his Geodesic domes did leak. Long ago, one of my cousins was dating someone who worked with Fuller and she brought him around to meet us. It was a long and philosophical night, as things sometimes were back in the hippy days, and sometime in the course of it, he mentioned that Bucky had told him that more important than anything else in life was to grasp the controls of your own environment. It's been my guiding light ever since.
E. Writer That's interesting that he said that. I share a similar thought with my kids about controlling their circumstances. I tell them to "Get ahead of it...." (potential problems).
Alex Morton I think he meant as well, your physical environment. We were living in an apartment in an old building across the river from NYC. Our view from our big windows was the George Washington Bridge and the city. I was working at whatever I could to make money and writing my first novel. At first it was cool, especially at night with the bridge and the skyscrapers lit up. Just across the street was the Hudson River, with ships going by and a marina on our side. But after a while, all we saw was smogrise and sootset and when we went out on the jetty and looked down at the water it seemed as if all the people of New York did was defecate, fornicate and eat oranges. After my cousin's boyfriend left, Mina and I looked at each other and said, "We're outta here." A couple of months later, we were living in rural Nova Scotia.
Andrew Morgan I was just out on my e-assist recumbent tricycle in the countryside to the north of town and coasting down a hill flushed an eastern Meadowlark. The first one I've seen in 40 years! One of my favorite birds. A couple hills later I saw four paramotors flying above the forests and fields, could only be local farmers.
E. Writer That is so worrying, especially since I eat a lot of veggies. I growy own too so ill stick with that for a while.
SJ Blues Yeah. I chose the worst year to go on a diet. The main ingredient for the diet is cursed right now :(
E. Writer They found that Taylor Farm products is a big source. I will be growing my lettuce via aerogarden for a while now.
